Chapter 1209: Vicious

After placing Deng Datong onto his bed, Li Qubing examined Deng Datong properly before he shook his head and sighed. “I didn’t expect his injury to be this bad. Could it be that he’s been punished by the Saint?”

“That’s impossible, right?” Du Ying hastily responded. “The Saint won’t raise her fists, after all.”

Li Qubing retorted, “Then who else could’ve attacked him? It’s even less plausible that he got so mad that he attacked himself, right?”

“Maybe he was frightened by the Saint?” Du Ying suggested.

It was not her first time seeing such a situation, after all.

The Saint was a person of high influence. Even the greatest of heroes were nothing in the face of her, and should these people be chastised by the Saint, they would become humiliated.

Although no one had ever been injured because of it, it was still quite frightening to see.

However, it was possible that Deng Datong had been humiliated to that extent this time around.

Li Qubing snorted. “Old Deng’s abilities might suck, but he’s unrivaled when it comes to having guts and being thick-skinned!”

“Could it be due to Junior Brother Zhao?” Du Ying hesitantly suggested.

Li Qubing asked, “Which Junior Brother Zhao?”

“Junior Brother Zhao Dahe. Senior Brother Deng requested for Junior Brother Zhao to kill Li Hanyan so that he could avenge Senior Brother Chang,” Du Ying explained.

“Oh, so it’s about this matter huh.” Li Qubing scoffed. “Old Deng really is a bumbling fool!”

Du Ying shook heaved a sigh as she shook her head. She did not comment on it.

She did not support his decision as well, but since the Saint had not said a thing about it, Du Ying could not comment on it as well.

Li Qubing added, “That Zhao Dahe’s a pain to deal with. Sure, it might be fine for Old Deng to carry out his antics on random passersby. However, he’s practically asking for it if he carries it out on Junior Brother Zhao!”

Du Ying heaved a gentle sigh. “The Saint has agreed to Deng Datong’s request though.”

“Of course the Saint won’t outright reject him. Old Deng would definitely be pissed about it otherwise. Did Old Deng already meet up with Junior Brother Zhao?”

“Yeah, they were in the Divine Light Basilica earlier.”

“Hoho, I see. This must’ve been Junior Brother Zhao’s handiwork. Old Deng’s finally met his match, huh. Hahaha!” Li Qubing burst out laughing. He was extremely delighted and pleased since someone had finally taught Junior Brother Zhao a much-needed lesson.

“Senior Brother Li, what about Senior Brother Deng’s injury? Is he okay?” Du Ying asked.

“He won’t die, at least!” Li Qubing chuckled.

“Gack!” Deng Datong spat a mouthful of dark blood as he laid limply on the bed.

Compared to his stiff state earlier, he was much better now. Earlier, the frigid air had snuck its way into his body while the two energies within him clashed, but after making his way here, the two energies had instead neutralized the frigid air. It was a close call, as that frigid air could very well freeze him to death.

The cold winds on Great Light Peak were indeed capable of freezing people to death.

“You’re fine now, right, Old Deng?” Li Qubing snorted.

Deng Datong’s face was as pale as paper. The purplish-green shade had now receded, but the fingerprints on his mandibles could still be clearly seen.

“You won’t die, right?” Li Qubing asked.

Deng Datong shook his head. “I won’t.”

His voice was dry, raspy, and bitter. It was like a broken gong.

Li Qubing snickered. “So, you lost to Junior Brother Zhao?”

“The b*stard’s far too vicious!” Deng Datong spat with vehemence.

Flames seemed to be spewing from his eyes as he gritted his teeth. It was then, however, that he suddenly felt the pain in his jawbones. He then glared angrily at Li Qubing.

Li Qubing laughed. “I didn’t bother being delicate earlier since I thought you were dying… Want me to help you treat it?”

“I would appreciate it,” Deng Datong rudely answered.

Deng Datong had already located Li Qubing’s meridians. Deng Datong might prank Li Qubing for angering him earlier, but he would never take Li Qubing’s life. This was a stark contrast to Chu Li’s vicious methods, and it was also a true representation of their brotherly relationship!

Li Qubing harrumphed before sitting cross-legged behind Deng Datong. Li Qubing then placed both of his palms on Deng Datong’s back and began channeling his force.

“Bang!” Li Qubing suddenly hurtled backward, crashing into the wall. He looked as if he was attached to it, as he remained stationary and flashed a bitter smile.

“Senior Brother Li?” Du Ying shrieked.

Li Qubing spat out a mouthful of blood, staining his bed red.

He bitterly chuckled. “You think you’re strong, eh.”

“What happened?” Du Ying hurriedly asked.

  Li Qubing shook his head.

“Umph.” Deng Datong spat out another mouthful of blood.

Deng Datong made a mental note to himself that once he recovered, he would focus on replenishing his blood. After all, Deng Datong had lost plenty of blood from the ordeal, and since blood contained his essence, his cultivation would be severely impacted unless he recovered what he lost. ‘Damn you, Zhao Dahe!’

“Senior Brother Deng, Senior Brother Li? What just happened?” Du Ying asked curiously.

Li Qubing answered, “Old Deng’s inner energy is too strong! It’s too much for me to handle!”

Deng Datong flashed a bitter smile. “It seems I have much to learn from my seniors.”

At present, Deng Datong’s cultivation level was double of what it originally was. Due to this, the moment external energy attempted to seep into him, the two energies would instantly retaliate. Since the energies were both Yin and Yang respectively when combined, their effects would not just be stacked additively, but instead, it would be multiplied by several magnitudes. Not one person among his batch would be able to resist this force of his.

Li Qubing had a devious smile on his lips. “Which senior do you think is able to help you? I don’t see any hope for you!”

  Deng Datong furrowed his brows.

He was not very likable among his seniors, and since the majority were opposed to him, there might very well be seniors who would be unwilling to help him.

“If there really isn’t a single one, I can request for the Saint’s help.” Deng Datong harrumphed.

Du Ying shook her head and stated, “The Saint would not assist her disciples for such simple matters. Otherwise, she would probably be exhausted to death. The only time that she’ll help is when your life’s in jeopardy. Then, she’ll assist. However, even in such situations, the Saint would not treat the cause. Instead, she’ll stop once your life is no longer in danger as her time is of the utmost importance.”

Deng Datong twisted his face into a pained expression. “Don’t tell me that I’m supposed to just let it heal on its own? Zhao Dahe, you’re a vicious person, you know that?!”

He finally understood why Zhao Dahe had agreed to the Saint’s request in a prompt manner. ‘It turns out that Zhao Dahe had already accounted for my injuries. There’s no way I can treat this within eight days! Damn him!’

Du Ying sighed. “Senior Brother Deng, while Junior Brother Zhao might look like a klutzy, bumbling fool that you can take advantage of ever since he first arrived at the Church, in actuality, he has never been taken advantage of before.”

Deng Datong sighed and shook his head.

He had really made a wrong move this time. He thought that Zhao Dahe was a pushover, but he never expected Dahe to turn against him and make a move on him, right in front of the Saint, even!’

‘However, the Saint didn’t mention a single thing. It seems that Zhao Dahe is well aware of the Saint’s limits, which means that the guy’s a genius!’

Upon thinking of this, Deng Datong started to feel regretful. If he knew that Zhao Dahe was this kind of person, he would have never carried out such an act. He would have opted for another ploy that would definitely have worked. Nevertheless, it was far too late to change tactics now. Not only did Deng Datong lose his dignity, but he had also been gravely harmed.

“Junior Sister Du, I beg of you, please help me make a request for the Saint’s help!” Deng Datong exclaimed.

Du Ying nodded. “I’ll go ahead and inform her.”

“I appreciate it.” Deng Datong painstakingly clasped his fists.

Du Ying then left the courtyard.

Li Qubing chuckled and shook his head. “Hah, I can’t believe that even you would be in this kind of situation!”

“You’d better be careful of that Zhao Dahe!” Deng Datong snorted. “He’s a vile person!”

“Why of course! Spare your remarks, there’s no way I’ll purposely instigate him. You, on the other hand, you’d better not lose your worthless life! Now that you know that he’s a vicious person, why don’t you be humbler? After all, the guy can squash you just like an ant!”

Thanks to the damage Chu Li had inflicted on Deng Datong’s body, Li Qubing was now gravely afraid of Chu Li. He now understood that Chu Li was leagues above him, and he dared not anger Chu Li.

“He wouldn’t dare! The Saint would definitely not let him off that easily should anything happen to me!” Deng Datong exclaimed.

“So what?” Li Qubing retorted, “You would be dead by then! … He’s already survived after killing an Altar Leader, so, do you think that he would have any reservations for someone who has no authority nor position like you?”

Deng Datong was no Branch Leader. He had just accumulated enough military exploits such that if he was able to succeed this time, he would immediately be promoted into a Patrol. This had caused him to become tunnel-visioned, as he would use any means necessary in order to obtain this position. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and he feared that he would no longer be able to obtain the position if he were to miss out on it now!
