Chapter 285: Bandit vs. Bandit

As the saying goes, the larger the forest, the greater the chance just about anyone could pop up from it. It seemed even robberies could collide now and again?
Fang Xing anxiously left the carriage and looked at this blue-clothed bandit from head to toe. Their cultivation level had them in Foundation Stage tier two, they wore a sulky-faced mask over their face, their physique was tall and thin, and they wore an extremely ordinary blue robe that make it hard to tell whether they were male or female. The speed of this person was also extremely high—even after appearing on the other side of the mountain, the bandit managed to arrive in front of the group in only a few breaths.
The four cultivators at the foot of the mountain were slightly surprised, and it even seemed as though they believed Fang Xing and this blue-clothed bandit were companions. One of them began to sneer and coldly say, “Such great courage. The two of you actually wants to rob the four of us? Perhaps you don’t know—”
“I was here first!” Fang Xing interrupted with a yell towards that blue-clothed bandit before the man had finished.
The blue-clothed bandit was surprised at this. “What do you mean you’re first?”
Fang Xing curled his fingers into a circle before speaking in a bold and confident tone, “I’ve already claimed all the people here. You go and find somewhere else!”
The blue-clothed bandit was taken aback. “You’re also a bandit?”
Fang Xing gestured to the top of his carriage and yelled, “Can you not read the huge banner I brought along with me?”
The bandit followed the movement of Fang Xing’s hand towards the top of the carriage before bursting out into laughter. “You carry a banner for all of your robberies? Such thick skin you have! Can’t you see even I wear a mask?”
Fang Xing rolled his eyes. “Enough of the useless talk! I’ve already taken this place; you go and find somewhere else!
“Why should I? If anyone needs to go somewhere else, it’s you, otherwise I’ll rob you together with them!” the blue-clothed bandit laughed with disdain.
It was only now that the four Foundation Stage cultivators at the foot of the mountain realized not only were these two bandits not companions, they’d even started to argue over who should rob them. The four of them could only feel confusion and look at such a strange scene playing out without knowing whether they should laugh or cry. They exchanged glances until one of them—a man with eagle-like eyes paired with a cold and stern expression—yelled out, “What idiots! How dare you speak so disgracefully! I will give you to the count of three to—”
“Motherf*cker! How dare you even want to robe me!” Fang Xing didn’t even bother listening to this eagle-eyed cultivator’s speech before he pulled out his one-legged-man lance and threw it at the blue-clothed bandit.
The bandit’s last sentence had been what set Fang Xing off. Even after robbing so many people, no one had ever robbed him, and although he’d originally considered sparing this bandit since they were in the same trade, he wasn’t going to tolerate being seen as another fat sheep as well.
The attack was extremely fast, so much so that almost the instant Fang Xing held up the lance, it was already bashing up against the blue-clothed bandit’s head. His Qi activated with only a small movement of his body, causing a whirlwind to whip up out of nowhere with sharp whistles in the air.
BOOM ….
The eagle-eyed cultivator between Fang Xing and the blue-clothed bandit was surprised by the wind, and he stumbled back with a startled expression.
“Oh, you want to get physical?” the blue-clothed bandit loudly asked with similar surprise. He took a step backwards only to disappear beneath Fang Xing’s attack like a shadow, and a red longsword appeared in his hand amidst a cool breeze. He formed a seal with the sword and a very peculiar blood-red ray shot out towards the back of Fang Xing’s head.
The most surprised of all was perhaps a short and plump cultivator amidst the four Foundation Stage cultivators guarding the mountain. As he focused his gaze on the deep-red longsword in the blue-clothed bandit’s hand, his face paled as though he’d just seen a ghost. After a moment of being stunned, he hurriedly moved to root through his own storage sack while beads of sweat began to drip from his forehead. Although he couldn’t tell when the bandit had passed by him and stolen it, the weapon the bandit was using against Fang Xing was precisely his very own spirit weapon.
‘If that attack had been aimed towards me….’ The short plump cultivator was in shock, and a sense of terror began to appear in his eyes.
“Behind me?” At that exact moment, Fang Xing felt a sharp wind shoot towards him from his flank, causing his heart to seize. With a mental command, two eye-blinding wings of gold appeared and broke up the currents of wind behind him while propelling his body forward in an instant. The sudden shift allowed him to narrowly dodge the deep-red longsword before he turned around and waved his lance towards the blade.
“Break!” Fang Xing commanded with a deep voice. He believed without a doubt that with his attack, the opponent’s sword would break and their bones would shatter. He was confident in his own abilities, and with the raw amount of strength at his disposal, there had not been any other person in the same tier who was able to fight him head-on without coming out disadvantaged.
The sword and lance collided, and a loud clang of metal rang out along with a violent gust of wind. The four guarding Foundation Stage cultivators to the side couldn’t even stand properly and hastily backed off. As for the black horse carriage, the experienced Old Peng had driven it away long in advance—he had no intention of having himself caught up in the duel of two little monsters like this.
PAH !
After the collision, the deep-red longsword truly shattered and turned into a bunch of red butterfly-like pieces that flew out in all directions. The blue-clothed bandit let out a cry of surprise before flying backward and violently shaking his hand, a sharp hiss of pain seething through their mask.
‘So strong?’
‘So vicious?’
Both Fang Xing and the blue-clothed bandit were filled with surprise and praised each other in their minds.
Not only was Fang Xing undefeatable by those in the same stage, but after studying the True Samadhi Fire from the Decapitation’s Portrayal, the toughness and purity of his physical body alongside the basis of his foundation was incomparably solid. Although he was in Foundation Stage tier two, it could be said the number of resources he required was more than what an ordinary mid-Foundation Stage cultivator would need. He’d never really met someone in the same stage as him with battle prowess on par with his.
That “break” he’d said earlier wasn’t just towards the spirit weapon breaking, but also his confidence that the blue-clothed bandit’s arm would break as well. Yet, even though the bandit seemed to be rather sloppy, they were still able to take the full brunt of his attack, making this a rather special event. As for this blue-clothed bandit, he was even more surprised; they were clearly left at a disadvantage after this blow, and this alone was beyond their expectations.
“Again!” After a short moment of surprise, the blue-clothed bandit seemed unconvinced and let out a loud yell before dashing towards Fang Xing. Throughout the process, his hand didn’t stop forming seals, either, and lightning seemed to condense in front of his body before finally taking on the shape of a large electric bird. The shape of it was almost lifelike, and its sharp beak opened before an electric flame of extremely high temperature billowed out toward Fang Xing.
“Heh, you think I’m scared?” Fang Xing became excited as well. If both of their battle prowesses were too far apart, he would have already started thinking of some sneaky shameful methods without wanting to face them head-on, but running into someone with a similar prowess at the same tier as him had awakened his competitive nature and he dashed forward with a loud roar. He wanted to see how much ability they really had to be able to take his strike without any wounds.
Swoosh
Swoosh
The pair dashed towards each other from opposite directions. Fang Xing grabbed his large lance and threw it at the electric bird’s body.
BOOM ….
Thunderous light scattered about in the air as the temperature increased. Layers upon layers of invisible wind gushed outward, blowing sand and dust along the way.
As for the four other Foundation Stage cultivators, they continuously exchanged dumbfounded glances while gulping. What was this? Why was it so different from what they’d imagined? Two bandits actually began fighting each other while completely ignoring them… and those bandits’ power was so high!
They’d originally wanted to capture that Snowy Mountain’s Fang Xiaojiu and send him off to Young Master Huangfu in exchange for rewards, and it was only now that they realized such a thing was utterly laughable. Even if they were to work together, how was this little monster of Snowy Mountain someone who could be captured? It had to be said that the reason they wanted to capture Fang Xiaojiu was because they thought it would be easy!
When the Huangfu clan originally ordered the capture of whoever killed the four groups of cultivators after entering the Mysterious Domain, everyone had thought it was Fang Xing. When they found out it was all a misunderstanding and it was actually this Snowy Mountain disciple who’d intentionally used the wrong name, that bounty order naturally fell on Fang Xiaojiu’s head instead. Simply put, if anyone were to capture either him or Fang Xing, they’d be able to exchange it in for a reward from Huangfu.
Fang Xing was rumored to be extremely vicious and dangerous, and not even three groups of Huangfu clan cultivators seemed able to do anything to him. Most of the cultivators therefore did not dare to challenge him and set their sights on this Fang Xiaojiu instead. They were drawn towards whoever seemed the weaker of the two, and this Snowy Mountain disciple should be easier in comparison, right? Although this person might have killed four groups of cultivators, it was said he’d merely borrowed the powers of an Ancient weapon and his battle prowess was limited. It wasn’t until now that they realized this Snowy Mountain disciple Fang Xiaojiu was definitely not any weaker than that Fang Xing! All four of them felt their throats begin to dry and their hearts begin to pound with worry.
Meanwhile, Fang Xing and the other bandit had already clashed over ten times, yet it became clear quite quickly that this was a stalemate.
The blue-clothed bandit’s body felt so light to Fang Xing it was as though it included the Dao of an Ancient technique—it was definitely far more powerful than anything he’d ever seen. If he wasn’t using the Hundred and Eight Thousand Swords himself, he wouldn’t be able to keep up whatsoever. The blue-clothed bandit, on the other hand, thought that Fang Xing’s raw strength was extremely impressive; let alone fighting head-on, even just getting a few scratches from a sharp weapon would leave him heavily disadvantaged.
Faced with such circumstances, both of their hearts became stiff. It seemed neither of them had expected that on the off chance they’d clash against another bandit, they’d meet someone so powerful.
‘Who would have thought such an existence could be found in Chufung? Unless they’ve been nurtured by the Huangfu clan in secret?’ the blue-clothed bandit inwardly exclaimed while taking extra care not to underestimate his opponent. He left a false opening before retreating a great distance and then suddenly crossed his hands up towards the sky. The two hands clasped together and began to draw out three continuous symbols in the blink of an eye, each one flashing quickly across the sky before vanishing. Once the third symbol completed, a drop of transparent blue water appeared at the tip of his finger with a profoundly mysterious quality to it.
The blue-clothed bandit held that single drop of water at their fingertip and aimed it at Fang Xing, preparing to flick it out. “Imperial Water of Eternal Life….”
This caused Fang Xing’s heart to quiver. He could tell that the spell the opponent had just used was an apex spell, leaving him extremely surprised and unwilling to take this lightly at all. He threw the one-legged-man lance to the side and began moving both of his hands, drawing one on top with the other below into the form of a sanding disc. Black and gold surrounded him and a terrifying aura began to form as he prepared to use the Yin Yang Sanding Disc—one apex skill against the other.
