Chapter 250: Being Tricked

The information that the nine different stems of the Ming River possessed different formidable power was recorded in the books that belonged to the other worlds that she found in the Heavenly Wheel.

The Ming River that they were all looking at now was just an outer layer. It wasn’t even considered a branch.

“Since this isn’t water, then let’s just go!” Huo Feng looked at the rest impatiently.

Laughing, Ying rolled her eyes. “Sure, if you want to die so badly.”

“You…!” Huo Feng saw red, but there was nothing he could do to her.

Ling Wuxia smiled and nodded. “Then let’s all depend on ourselves. Good luck!” She turned toward Junior Brother He and threw a piece of white silk on the river before leaving on it.

  Junior Brother He followed suit.

In white-coloured clothing and riding on silk…. They really do think they’re immortals.

Lu Mingshu grabbed her sword tightly and sneered.

When Ling Wuxia reached the area where the light was flickering, mystic light was released from her body. Upon meeting with mystic light, the water evaporated into gas, and she slowly sank into it.

Junior Brother He did the same.

Seeing them disappearing, Huo Feng immediately turned to his alliance. “Do we go too?”

Ye Zhenyan facepalmed. “If Brother Huo isn’t afraid, then go ahead!”

But the idiotic Huo Feng couldn’t tell that Ye Zhenyan was being sarcastic. He leapt up high and borrowed his weapon’s energy to help him reach the destination. Due to him being too heavy, he sank down immediately after he activated his mystic light. Huo Feng immediately swung his weapon to borrow some energy and reduce his speed of sinking.

There were only five left on the shore now, and Ye Zhenyan was currently side-eyeing the other group. “Why aren’t you two moving?”

Lu Mingshu and Ying exchanged a glance. Ying took a deep breath and jumped into the water.

She was followed by Zhang Rulin.

When all the others had entered the water, Ye Zhenyan stared at Lu Mingshu like a predator looking at his prey. It seemed like he set his mind on her being his guinea pig.

Lu Mingshu said nothing and jumped up like lighting. She then, like the others, sunk into the water slowly.

The Ming River’s water evaporated as soon as it came in contact with the mystic force. Lu Mingshu lost her balance and started to fall downwards.

She continued to release sword energy, striking it against the surging waves to slow the force of sinking.

After being in this situation for about an hour, Lu Mingshu’s feet finally touched a solid object.

The riverbed was dim, and the water flowing by created shadows, making it even darker.

Not long after, the Ye brothers arrived too.

Due to being unfamiliar with the surroundings, the eight of them dared not wander around too much.

Being in a deadlock for a moment, Huo Feng took the initiative; “Since we’re all here already, let’s rely on our own ability?”

Ling Wuxia nodded in agreement. “Sure. All the best to everyone.”

She then left along with Junior Brother He.

The young masters from the three aristocratic families discussed what to do before leaving together.

Lu Mingshu and Ying were the only ones left.

“Should we go too?” Ying asked.

  “Let’s go.”

Throughout the journey, neither of them said anything.

The Ming River was dead; there were no living things around, and other than the rumbling sound of water, only their breathing could be heard.

All of a sudden, Lu Mingshu took out her sword and launched an attack. Lunar God shone brightly in the dim river.

Ying felt chills down her spine and immediately dodged the attack. “What the fuck?!”

Sword energy passed by her, destroying a lump of shadow.

Lu Mingshu sheathed her sword and threw her a glance. “What are you afraid of?”

Ying looked at the lump of shadow near her like an idiot. “What ‘s that?”

“A ghost of the Ming River.”

“Ghost?!” Ying nearly choked on her saliva.

After the war between mankind and the barbarians, ghosts were no longer seen in this world, as if they had vanished into thin air.

“Yeah! The Ming River leads to the capital of hell, Youdu. Some spirits that are infected by the Nine Serenities’ vital energy will turn into ghosts as time passes. ”

Ying nodded, and something suddenly came to her mind. “You seem to know a lot about these things.”

“It’s just some stuff I heard about.” Lu Mingshu shrugged it off. “Let’s go now.”

  “Okay….”

The girl in black trailed behind her fast.

“Why do you seem to be so familiar with this place? Have you been here before?” Ying asked after a moment.

Lu Mingshu snickered from the front.

“Why the hell are you laughing?”

“I thought that you’d be able to hold it in a little longer.”

“…” In only two days, Ying had been left speechless by Lu Mingshu for about a thousand times. Is this witch really only sixteen? I’m about ten years older than her, yet I’m always following her orders.

For example, Ying hated Lu Mingshu when they first arrived and had no intention of helping her with anything. But after walking around with her for a bit, she inexplicably became Lu Mingshu’s follower.

I’m just being used, right? Ever since they became partners, Lu Mingshu always took the initiative to make the decisions. No matter what situation they were in, Lu Mingshu was always the decisive one. So as the days passed by, Ying started to rely on Lu Mingshu for decision-making.

“Are you doing this on purpose?” Ying gritted her teeth.

  “Huh?”

“Tricking me into being your partner.”

Lu Mingshu turned back to look at her, flashing her a wide smile, dimples showing.

Ying stared blankly at her. Lu Mingshu had never really smiled at her sincerely. She actually does look good smiling.

“It’s not my fault that you’re so gullible.”

“You…” Ying cursed, but being too distracted by the fact that Lu Mingshu looked good while smiling, she wasn’t really angry.

“I need a friend.” Lu Mingshu continued. “I’m alone in Beiming, and the group supporting me is a lone wolf too. All the sects and aristocratic families see me as their enemy, and even if they don’t, they won’t cooperate with me since I’m an outsider. You’re the only one that I could be friends with.”

  “But I don’t want to….”

“Of course you don’t.” Lu Mingshu laughed. “Then we can be partners at least. Look, I’m more reliable than others and decisive. It’s a good deal, right?”

“…” Ying didn’t respond. Why did I never guess it?

“How much did the Pure White Grace Pavilion recruit you for?”

  Ying remained silent.

“The Pure White Grace Pavilion has given up, haven’t they?” Ying was unsure whether Lu Mingshu was talking to her or herself. “The pressure of the aristocratic families is all on them, isn’t it? The Bon Voyage Fleet is easy to take over, but not the Pure White Grace Pavilion, which has such a strong foundation.”

“Why does recruiting me mean they’re giving up?” Ying side-eyed her. “I’m not bad.”

“You’re good.” Lu Mingshu nodded. “But you have no more potential.”

  Ying said nothing.

“You aren’t young anymore, are you? Your cultivation is at the peak of the Harmonization Realm, but I feel that your energy is somehow weird, which I guess is because of some problem in your cultivation. Someone like you is never the best candidate, no matter how good you are.”
